Shell and Tube
Our stocked ICI Rex Series Boilers offer solutions to increase efficiency including via flue gas heat recovery. This system is built into the body of the boiler. A new boiler will, by virtue of it being new, have better heat transfer. Old boilers, irrespective of the care it’s had, will have at least some scale that will reduce efficiencies. Poor heat transfer equals a lack of efficiency. This lack of efficiency equates to a bigger outlay on fuel to produce the heating hot water or domestic hot water for example.
Technology
Technology has moved on also. Condensing boilers can offer 90% efficiency as opposed 70%-80% offered by traditional shell and tube boilers. For a condensing option, we currently recommend Ideal Evomax Boilers. The Ideal Evomax range is proving popular. In particular the Evomax 120’s. These units are particularly popular if access to a plant room is difficult and smaller, modular units are more suitable.
